Junha - Racism/CNN report on South Park

There was a CNN report on this cartoon, "South Park", using the "n" word. According to the news report, the South Park used "n" word, exactly 42 times in one episode. This issue was raised as a racial discrimination to the black people. However, according to the South Park", they used it as an entertaining comic episode. They were trying to make a hilarious episode so they used that idea; however, some critics said that this seemed to cross the line and was criticized for its carelessness. This report shows that the racial discrimination is still an issue currently and the mass media still reports the issue to the world.

Junha - Racism/The Glory Road

Just like my previous blog, this movie is also related to sports, which it deals with basketball. According to the NCAA history, the Texas Union team was the first team to put black kids as the starting team. Unlike the movie "Remember the Titans", the black kids in this movie deals with the racism rather quickly among the team. However, the more the Texas Union win games, the more trouble the black kids had to face. So once again, the team was in dilemma and the black kids had to choose from two options: either to lose and show to the nation that they were losers from the beginning or to win and show the nation that black people are capable of winning and are equal as the white people.

This movie shows the perspective of how the black teenagers felt when they were threatened to be killed or harmed, which really helped the audience to see through the black kids' perspectives.

Junha - Racism/Remember the Titans

As I searched for movies that deals with racial discrimination, I remembered this movie called "Remember the Titans". In this movie, group of African-American students went to the white school as the segregation was banned in America. However, the white kids had this mind that the black kids are still the minority. Even the coach of the football team was black so there were chaos within the team and practice. However, the coach solved this dilemma as the players in the team realized that both white and black people were the same and they began to cooperate with each other, which led them to victories. Although this movie began with negative perspective and mentioned the discrimination, this movie ended with a lesson that all men are equal in this world.

Jerry - Radio Racism

Radios are now killing other people's image by broadcasting a very racial comments over the radio. There has been reports of racist radio station called teh radio white station. It promotes white people and puts down the black and other groups of people. I just think that it is just insufferable that even radio stations are now promotting racism. Kids anywhere from 5-17 listen to radio and its very sad that such young kids must be eposed to racism and made to follow their path

Jerry- Racism on Movies

When we think of movies, we usually imagine the action or comedy type made to entertain the audience. However, with recent revolutionised mass media, racist movies were able to be distributed around the world. Even though they are not made to be so focused on racism, most of the film in the link portray a very bad image on African Americans. Where did good old times go with classic comedy and good morals? I believe that we as a human being should go back to our old morals and refrain from posting such innaccurage images to the world to view.

Jerry-Racism on Internet

Ths internet itself has endless possiblities. It can be used to spread news, share files and etc. However, racist groups have taken advantage of the internet. Groups such as KKK or white supreme groups are using the internet to spread their influence by using music, news and meeting dates. Eventhough such cult or group might be deemed illegal, other countries let it be. I believe that sites such as these not only promote hate, but kills the african american's self-esteem. It brings hatred toward both whites and black and make the ethical problems grow larger. I think that its time for the government to kick in and stop such bad influence going out all over the globe.

Racism facts online

Internet usually shows how cruel and ugly racism can be to the audience. Through internet, however, we can also find the history of racism. What was the major event that happened which lead to racism? What kind of racism existed in the past? These questions can easily be answered by researching online. This particular article about the history of racism gives brief history of black slaves, Ku Klux Klan, and the holocaust.

Through these type of articles, people around the world are able to be informed and warned of racism. This article teaches us that racism is morally wrong. For instance, 6 million killing of Jews or enslaving Africans raises ethic issues among people.
